Dictionary Meaning and Definition on 'Bypassing'
Wikipedia Meaning and Definition on 'Bypassing'
In ordinary English bypassing means to pass by a place without entering it. Thus a road known as a bypass may be built around a town, and traffic which needs to use the roads in the area but not enter the town will bypass it.
In communications and linguistics, bypassing refers to the misunderstanding which develops when the recipient of a message infers a different meaning from the message than that intended by the source. Most commonly, this involves confusion that may result from the different meanings of words; particularly, slang and euphemisms—such confusion is sometimes one of the goals of doublespeak.
In electronics, components which affect the direct current operation of a circuit but should not affect the alternating current (a.c.) operation may be bypassed, usually by connection of a capacitor which diverts a.c. to earth without affecting direct voltages.[See more about Bypassing at Dictionary 3.0 Encyclopedia]
